UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch

The UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch stands out with the diversity of its features and boasts some of the most spectacular mountainous scenery in the Alps.
The Jungfrau-Aletsch was the first region in the Alps to be declared as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO Committee on 13 December 2001. The list of World Heritage Sites includes places of outstanding cultural and natural heritage that enjoy special protection.
The Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site is marked not just by its outstanding natural beauty, but also by the many glaciers and moraines that bear witness to the past ice ages. It’s the juxtaposition of Mediterranean steppes, century-old landscapes and high-Alpine ecosystems that give rise to the variety of the scenery.
